We had the absolute honor of photographing a truly special Orthodox wedding at Holy Protection of the Mother of God Orthodox Church, followed by an unforgettable reception at St. Joseph Orthodox Church. From start to finish, the day was filled with deep tradition, emotional moments, and incredible cultural celebration. The Orthodox wedding ceremony is unlike any other—it’s deeply spiritual, rich with symbolism, and absolutely beautiful to photograph. The church itself was a stunning setting, with its warm golden light, glowing candles, and intricate iconography. Every detail felt sacred, making it the perfect place for such an important moment.
Crowns, Circles, and Celebration
One of the most powerful parts of the day was the crowning ceremony. Watching the couple receive their stefana (wedding crowns)—symbolizing their unity and spiritual connection—was breathtaking. The delicate ribbon that joins the crowns is such a beautiful visual representation of their bond. Of course, we can’t forget the Dance of Isaiah. This moment, where the couple walks in a circle around the altar, is full of grace and meaning. As a wedding photographer, it's one of those moments you live for—visually stunning, full of emotion, and completely timeless. After the ceremony, the celebration really took off at the reception. The bride and groom were joined by their friends and family for a high-energy night full of traditional Lebanese dancing. The energy was contagious, and the dance floor was packed all night long! But one of the most emotional moments came when the bride surprised the groom by singing a song she wrote just for him. You could feel the love in the room—it was the kind of heartfelt gesture that reminds us why documenting weddings is so meaningful.
